The public is invited to submit nominations for a Richmond History Maker in May and June of each year, via postal mail, fax or online submission. Nominees may be re-nominated, provided he or she is not a previous honoree, and may be nominated as an individual or an organization. Organizations do not have to be non-profit. Staff and Trustees of the Valentine Richmond History Center may not nominate a History Maker.
The selection process is overseen by graduates of Leadership Metro Richmond (LMR), with support from History Center staff. One nominee will be honored in each of five categories; winners will be notified in early August and announced publicly in early September. The public is invited to join program sponsors, partners and patrons in celebrating the honorees at a gala celebration in October at the Valentine Richmond History Center.
